Sophos one of the leading Antivirus software company's have found a new backdoor trojan targeting Mac OSX users. It seems it is a variant of a well-known remote access trojan (RAT) for windows users known as darkComet or BlackHole.  However Sophos calles it OSX/MusMinim-A or MusMinim for short. .

It's functions include

  • Placing text files on the desktop
  • Sending a restart, shutdown or sleep command
  • Running arbitrary shell commands
  • placing a full screen window with a message that only allows you to click reboot
  • Sending URLS to client to open a website
  • Poping up a face "Administrator Password" window to phish the target
