About:

Ice Bucket Challenge was intended as a way to raise awareness and money towards fighting ALS.

What is ALS:

ALS stands for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, which is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons  die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed. ...DONATE

The rules:

Ice Bucket Challenge involves daring a person to dump a bucket of ice water over their head within the next 24 hours, or else donate money toward fighting ALS. Upon completion, you are also supposed to call out several other people to participate, which is why the challenge has been increasing and growing.
