Why Your HiBlocks Aren't Working with Meta Glasses

This video clears up why some people think HiBlocks are not working with Oakley Meta Glasses. The short version is that they are not just a fancy sticker. They are designed to cover the front LED while still letting enough light reach the sensor from the sides, which is why peeling off the wrong layer or treating them like regular tape can make the whole thing fail.

The key detail is that Meta Glasses compare light from both sides before allowing the camera to work. If one side sees light and the other side looks blocked, the glasses can throw an alert instead of recording. When the HiBlock is installed correctly, it stays raised enough to let side light reach the sensor, and in normal conditions that makes the setup work most of the time.

There is still a privacy and legal question underneath all of this. Covering the recording light may be technically possible, but recording audio or private conversations can create a much bigger issue than video alone, depending on where you are. The video ends with the practical point Meta should probably offer a way to disable the microphone during recording, because that would solve part of the problem without relying on hacks.
