Is the Elgato Wave Mic Arm LP Pro Worth the Hype?

My old mic arm worked for years, but it kept creeping into the shot and blocking the angles I wanted to use. The goal with the Elgato Wave Mic Arm LP Pro was simple: keep the mic usable, clean up the desk view, and stop letting one piece of gear wreck the frame whenever I changed cameras or pulled in another angle.

The low-profile setup does help with that. It frees up the camera view, tucks away cleanly, and the magnetic cable channel is a nice touch. There are tradeoffs, though: depending on where it sits, it can make the desk feel a little tighter and can block things like a Stream Deck or mixer until you get used to the new position.

The biggest caution is quality control. My first unit had a frozen tension adjustment, and the included Allen key snapped before the arm would move. The replacement adjusted the way it should, but that is the first thing I would check before fully setting one up. I like the arm and it solves the shot problem, but I do not think it is magic; it is a good low-profile option with one very real setup caveat.
