TechTips: Hidden Power Moves with the Stream Deck Plus

The Stream Deck Plus has always made sense as a button surface, but the dials are where it starts to feel like a real workflow controller. This quick tip is about using the action wheel on a dial so one knob can scroll through multiple actions, apps, shortcuts, or lighting controls, then launch the selected item with a press.

The part that clicked for me was treating Mac Shortcuts like little apps. If you add a shortcut to the Dock, macOS creates an app wrapper for it, and that app can be referenced from Stream Deck. In practice, that can make shortcut launching feel faster and more reliable than calling the shortcut directly from inside another automation layer.

It is a small feature, but it opens up a lot of setup ideas: social sharing actions, desktop shortcuts, lights, fans, creator tools, or anything else you want one dial away. If you already have a Stream Deck Plus, the action wheel is worth revisiting because it can turn those knobs into much more than page switchers.
