iPhone 17 Backup Hack Apple Won't Tell You

If your iPhone 17 preorder is locked in, the next smart move is getting your current phone backed up before the new one arrives. Wi-Fi works, but it can be slow, flaky, and frustrating right when you need a clean backup or restore.

In the video, I walk through the simple USB-C to Ethernet dongle trick that can make iCloud backups feel much more reliable. Plug the adapter into the iPhone, connect Ethernet, confirm the wired network in Settings, and then run the backup with a steadier connection than most home Wi-Fi setups.

There is also a quick bonus tip for moving large files over a wired connection with Thunderbolt, which can help when AirDrop feels too slow for bigger transfers. It is a small prep step, but it can save real time when upgrade day gets busy.
